At R4, respecting and protecting the environment is very close to our hearts. We also want to spread more awareness about important events that contribute to improving, or worsening, our planet.
Today, we share with you some data regarding global CO2 emissions.
Numbers from the IEA
The International Energy Agency stated that global CO2 emissions in 2023 increased by 410 million tons compared to 2022, reaching a total of 37.4 billion.
However, experts reassure us by explaining that the trend is not to be read in an entirely negative light, since two years ago emissions had increased by as much as 490 million tons! In addition, the IEA is also keen to point out that 2023 was an unfortunate year from the perspective of hydropower generation due to drought, forcing many companies to make extensive use of fossil fuels.
Countries that have contributed most to carbon dioxide emissions include China and India, but in general there has been an increase worldwide.
